Australia requires age-restricted social media platforms to take reasonable steps to prevent users under 16 from creating or keeping accounts. The primary obligation is on the platforms, not on children or their parents and carers.

France’s 2023 law provides a framework requiring authorization from a holder of parental authority for users under 15 to register for an online social network. Check official information for the latest implementation of age assurance, parental involvement and usage-time controls.
Be aware of apps that combine gaming and social media
An app may be categorized as a game while also including public profiles, friends or followers, text or voice chat, posts, livestreaming, matching with unknown users and user-generated content. These functions can make it operate as a social interaction space.
Do not rely only on an app-store category. Review the actual communication, publishing and discovery functions. Legal treatment may vary according to the service’s primary purpose, features and region.
